METHAMORPHOSIS
«For those who walk slowly.»
THE HARE AND THE TORTOISE by Esopo
The hare always laughed at the turtle, because it was very slow.
– «Heh, he! I really don’t know why you bother moving,» he said.
– «Well,» said the turtle, «it is true that I am slow, but I always arrive.» If you want we can make a career.
– «You must be joking,» said the hare, contemptuously. «But if you insist, I have no problem showing you.
It was a hot sunny day and all the animals went to see the Great Race.
The mole raised the flag and said: -One, two, three … Now!
The hare ran out, and the turtle stayed behind, coughing in a cloud of dust. When he started walking, the hare was already out of sight.
– What am I going to run for? I better rest for a while.
So she laid in the sun and fell asleep, dreaming of the awards and medals she was going to get.
The turtle continued all the way forward very slowly. Most of the bored animals went home. But the turtle continued to advance. At noon he passed by the hare, who slept by the side of the road. She followed step by step.
Finally, the hare woke up and stretched out his legs. The sun was setting. He looked back and laughed:
– «Heh, no sign of that silly turtle!» With a big jump, he ran towards the goal to collect his prize.
But what was his surprise when he saw from afar how the turtle had overtaken him and was crawling over the finish line.
The turtle had won! From the top of the hill, the hare could hear cheers and applause.
– «It’s not fair! – moaned the hare – You cheated! Everyone knows that I run more than you. ”
– ”Oh! – said the turtle, turning to look at her
– But I already told you that I always arrive. Slowly, but with constancy, in the end I always arrive. ”
